Ministries
Life Groups meet in homes around Raleigh, Durham, and Knightdale. They are an opportunity to focus our lives through building relationships with others. Everyone is invited!
We long to show the same hospitality that Christ has shown us. Our aim is to encourage one another by showing grace to everyone, reflecting carefully on God’s activity in each other’s lives, expressing care that is relevant and appropriate, and meeting practical needs where we can.
Kids and youth
“Let the children come to me.” — Jesus
We value every child and are excited to welcome your family to Christ Our Life! Our desire is to partner with parents in cultivating a spiritual foundation so every child knows and feels the love of God!
Nursery
We offer childcare (ages 0–2) during Sunday services. The nursery room is always supervised by two trained adults.
Toddlers
Children 3–5 years old participate in the beginning of worship, then are guided to a dedicated space where they are invited to know God through Bible stories, songs, and crafts. They remain in their class until the service ends.
Children
Older children (grades 1–5) participate in the beginning of worship, then are guided to a dedicated space where they are invited to know God through Bible stories, songs, and crafts. After the sermon, children join their parents in worship for the Eucharist. We offer this program every other week. On the alternating weeks, children are welcome to wiggle and color throughout the service!
Youth
Youth (grades 6–12) are invited to remain in worship and experience the faith in an intergenerational community. Our desire is to see every student formed by the Anglican liturgy, in community with each other, and for the sake of others.
Your child’s safety
Christ Our Life encourages a nurturing environment of hospitality and joy where each child feels safe, accepted, and included. To these ends, we follow the training guidelines in accordance with the C4SO Safe Church Training Compliance Policy.
Before getting involved with children and youth, everyone is carefully screened — including a background and reference check — interviewed, and trained. Clergy and all volunteers in children and youth ministry attend a Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Training course once every two years. All programs and activities are structured to adhere to our safety policies, and two or more adults are present to oversee children and youth at all times.

We recognize that building a sustainable church involves the contribution of many volunteers, and we are especially grateful for all who have helped our growing church! If you would like to serve with us, review these opportunities in light of your interests and gifts, then get in touch.
Volunteering can be occasional or frequent, based on your availability. Expressing interest does not mean you are signing up to serve — our ministry leaders will be in touch about next steps.
Scripture reader and prayers of the people
Each week, laity read from the Old and New Testament and lead the congregation in the prayers of the people. This opportunity is open to both children and adults.
Greeter and usher
Greeters are the friendly faces at Christ Our Life. They welcome people and, if needed, help with seating. Greeters arrive before the service to set out name tags and clipboards for kids in the foyer, and pass the plate during the offertory. Following worship, there is some basic breakdown.
Worship music team
Instrumentalists and singers help with the music during the liturgy. This ministry typically involves an audition and occasional rehearsals under the direction of the worship music team leader.
Altar guild
A beautiful opportunity to care for the elements on our altar. This ministry prepares the altar and vessels for communion and cares for the altar linens. It means arriving early to set up, and time after the service to put the elements and linens away.
After-service clean up
Return the sanctuary to its original seating arrangement, and make sure the building is tidied and ready to be locked. About twenty minutes after the service has concluded.
Infant and toddler care
Care for infants and toddlers during service times. Please arrive thirty minutes before the service. Two adults are required, both having completed the Safe Church requirements above.
Kids and youth care assistant
During the homily, volunteers teach and care for our elementary-aged children. This role requires completing the Safe Church requirements above.
Sunday service
We gather every Sunday at 10:30 for the Eucharist. What a service is like, what to wear, and where to park are all answered on the Sunday page.
